The Portland Aerospace Society wanted to catch attention during the PSU Day of Giving. I created this postcard using the QR code that links to http://oresat.org/ where the Oresat story will compel readers to follow the PSUF donate button. We chose this option over going directly to https://giving.psuf.org/oresat, which does not have any information about why people should donate.
The “postcard” was used as a handout, designed to look like a postcard. It is a crucial two-part component of the Day of Giving. When handed out on the Day of Giving, the cards will be put into pockets, taken home and will act as a reminder - and with a quick camera scan, people can read the Oresat story, compelling them to donate for the Day of Giving.
The second component happens when people use the cool space nerd photo as a keepsake for refrigerators, etc, which will spark conservation about Oregon’s first nano-satellite driving more inquiries and donations to the cause. Or they think may it’s so cool they mail or give it to a friend, which will continue to spread the word. All of this amounts to potential earned media, making your budget go further.
